Back to Crown Center

Ever since going to Crown Center the kids have been itching to get back there. Sunday was a beautiful day with a high about 60 so we thought that would be a great day to be outside. Although we are really enjoying skating we are not very good. Actually we're pretty terrible. There's no future hockey stars or figure skaters here but amidst all the falls and wall crashes we're having lots of fun.

Here's some video of our second Crown Center Skating Adventure. Notice how Paul speeds up when he thinks his little sister might pass him?

Ice Skating at Crown Center

While Mary T. was here for Christmas we took advantage of an unseasonably warm day and went ice skating for the first time. Crown Center is really pretty at Christmas time and we had lots of fun. It's amazing how quickly little kids pick up new things like skating. There was lots of falling down and running into each other but all in all it was great. Katie felt the most comfortable on the ice and after about two laps really had the hang of it. Matthew was moving his feet as fast as he could while I was trying to hold him up. He got the award for the most falls but never stopped laughing. Paul was reluctant to try it but once he saw how much fun his brother and sister were having he joined us on the ice. We hope to make this and new Christmas family tradition.

Underwater Pics

Over the last several years I've been through a couple of cameras. One broke after falling in the pool at the Great Wolf Lodge and my last camera died when the strap broke and it smashed on the sidewalk. I had hoped to get a new camera that took excellent movies but also excellent stills. Surprisingly that is still a tall order. The cheapest with those requirements were in the $700-900 range. After accepting that was way out of budget I spotted this new camera that was both waterproof and shockproof. That seems perfect for our active sometimes dangerous life. I'm still getting the hang of it and the verdict is still out on picture quality. I've lost a few good opportunities at great shots because the auto focus was too slow. Not sure if this is operator error or a shortcoming of the camera.

Even though it's waterproof putting it underwater that first time was very nerve racking. Here's some pics and video from our trip to the Lawrence Aquatic Center over Christmas Break. video

New Format for 2008

We're going to try something new for 2008. Hopefully this blog format will make it easier and allow for more frequent posts. We're not promising anything too witty, informative or worth reading but atleast there will be more of it.
